Brainstorm The Layout Of The Mock Cover Next, we had to construct the layout for the design of our mock cover. Creation Of The Layout For The Spread!

The Key Points Needed For The Layout  Next, I started to deal with the elements of design for the magazine. Elements such as staying within the external margins, placing objects between three or more columns, dominant photos, captions, eyeline, white space and copy. We also developed the concept of secondary coverage presented in the image below. All of these contribute to the organization of the magazines content for it to turn out correctly. We were given multiple assignments to apply this criteria to testing our understanding.  Example:  Fonts: We then went more in depth with fonts. We had to understand how different types of fonts add to the magazine. We were assigned an assignment where we chose 5 types of secondary coverage and explained why the fonts we chose add and goes along with the coverage. We explained how adding boldness, shadows, colors and even adjusting the position of the texts can add to the secondary coverage. Example:  Headlines:  After com...

Learning The Tools In Studio Works!

Introduction to Studio Works and Its Tools   After identifying and deciding and understanding the theme of our magazine, our teacher introduced us to Studio Works. This is the platform that we would be using to build and design our magazines. Before starting the process of developing our personal magazines we had to understand the basic tools of the app. She gave us two assignments that tested our skills on the tools on studio works. Tools that we learned to use in assignment one:   How to do colored back ground  Draw a textbox  Adding a stroke  Understanding the measurements of picas  Importing pictures   Edit text size  Edit font theme   Learning the rules of the gutter and bleed mark  Assignment Spread #1 Tools we learned how to use in assignment two:  Use rounding radius-  Alternate transparency  Text wrapping   Flip and invert images  Changing the softness of photos  Inputting drop s...

Brainstorming Ideas!

Studying The Construction Of Common Websites This was an assignment given to us by our teacher to help us understand how fonts, colors, and overall organization of the website makes the website appealing to the eye. She gave us multiple websites to study and break apart how the fonts, colors, photography, and messages all contributed to the theme of the websites. This allowed me to get some ideas on how I can have the colors of my magazine corollate with the food being presented on the page. Throughout looking at the websites there were many eye catching colors such as red, blue, and yellow to catch the consumers attention to important information. I had the idea of using this for side bars to catch the readers attention for special recipe tips. The information that I took in from this assignment was put to use for the theme worksheet we were to complete later on that month.  Here are some examples o...

What Will The Theme Be?

Image
What Were The Steps Needed To Reach The Theme? Choosing the theme was the next step, but before we got to that we had to figure out and decide whether we would work alone or work in a group. I decided to work in a group since I felt that it  will be beneficial with everyone having different ideas and point of views on the project. The partners I chose to work with were Anaya and Kevin since I believe they had great eyes and ideas for the magazine. After becoming a group we had to work together to come up with the theme of our magazine. We had many different ideas for theme, but to get inspiration our teacher gave us examples of magazine covers within her power points along with us completing a padlet. This padlet had discussion questions about the understanding of what theme is, why it's important and the role it plays. After gathering all of the knowledge on theme our group finally decided on our overall theme being food, with an elegant well organized structure  of the magaz...

Getting Started!

What is Publication? A publication is the act of publishing or releasing to the public things such as magazines, books, newspapers and many other forms of content.   First, before we started talking about the magazines we first learned the understanding of publication. Publication is used to spread information such as events, history, fashion and many other things that people enjoy and need throughout life by paper. Publication can be used to capture moments, spread information and make content available to the general public.
