Why is Copy Important? Copy is one of the most important parts of a magazine since this is where the reader will be spending most of their time at. The class got a pre assessment on the topic to see what we knew. This assignment asked us to write an article about ourselves. She used this as an introduction to copy. Later she gave us an assignment to test our understanding as to why copy is important. She passed out picture books and told us to cover the words and try to understand the story just by observing the illustrations. When doing this assignment, I noticed that you can't really understand what the author needs you to without having copy. Copy is the main part of a magazine since it is what draws in the reader and entertains them. Without this the reader will be both bored and left with confusion. What was the impact from the lessons on depth of field on the preparation for my magazine? The lesson my teacher gave on the topics of depth of field and photography techniques helped me in many ways to get ready for the photos needed in my magazine. First, we learned what depth of field meant, depth of field is the distance between the nearest and furthest objects that allows for the image to be focused on camera. Also, when taking photos depth plays an important role in pictures by making two-dimensional subjects into three- dimensional causing for the photo to be more attractive towards the viewer. Then next in the lesson of depth of field the class was taught that the larger the number (such as f/8) is on the camera to focus it will bring all the foreground and background objects in focus. When going to lower numbers (such as f/1.4) this brings focus on the foreground objects blurring the background out. This helped me with my magazine since...
Example of a Mock Table of Contents The Important Factors to Forming the Table of Contents: In semester one of media studies, we moved on to covering the steps to designing the table of contents. So, to start this new topic off my teacher went over presentations in class that consisted of material showing what's needed to make the table of contents in the magazines we read. She first started off with explaining how the table of contents has to compliment the cover design since it usually follows up after the title page. When making the table of contents it's important to make it stand out creating a good first impression on the reader. If the reader eye is not caught by skimming past the table of contents, they wouldn't want to read any further within the magazine. One thing we learned to do that can draw in a reader is including secondary coverage. This shows emphasis on main topics that will be included into the magazine allowing for the readers to get a glimpse of what t...
